The Gospel of Contemplation (GOC) was offered to our community and lasted for 3 months starting from October through December 2020. It was truly an amazing accomplishment even as our CFC community faced the challenges 2020 brought to us! This was attended by several members within the NC Area and by other areas within the whole North America. The whole series, led by Sister Teacher Marivie (Dalman), is divided into 12 sessions and was attended by a little less than 400 participants.
The GOC sessions helped our members to reflect what types of attachments they have that influence their behavior, their fears and their actions/reactions. Participants were led into a deeper insight in their prayer journey, how they need not resist the rain and storms that they encounter in life, why and when do they encounter spiritual dryness, how they can let go of unnecessary attachments and how they can strengthen their resolutions to change.
Contemplation is a different type of prayer that calls on a more focused and purposeful intimacy with God. Contemplative Prayer, according to St. Teresa of Avila, “is nothing else than a close sharing between friends; it means taking time frequently to be alone with him who we know loves us.” If we turn to God and spend time with Him daily, He will reveal to us the things in life that matter most. We can spend time with God in the silence of our hearts while living each day fully. God’s infinite love and light will illumine us and will bring us closer to Him.
The Gospel of Contemplation (GOC) is definitely a great series. It will help our community as we all strive to be holy in this life. If you missed this, GOC series will be offered again in 2021, so watch out for it and register with your whole household!
